Hounds and Co. Unleashes a New Look
In-Store and Online
The Challenge
Hounds and Co. has always been a favorite destination for pet owners in Portage, Michigan. They’re known for stocking natural and organic pet nutrition options that pet owners won’t find in big box retail stores.
In 2023, local customer Kristen Armbrister was presented with the unexpected opportunity to buy the store from the original owners. Wanting to infuse new energy into the store, Kristen and her team partnered with SPARK to undergo a brand transformation and website overhaul.
SPARK collaborated with their team to change the store name to Hounds and Co. The goal for the new brand was to create something clean and simple, while also invoking the friendly and warm personalities of the store’s ownership and management.

The Solution
After successfully unveiling the rebrand and new name, the Hounds and Co. team then set out to further improve their in store and online experience.
For their brick-and-mortar location, the SPARK team designed a set of outdoor signage for their store and dog park. Now, the store is easily visible from the roadside for potential new customers.
Next, the SPARK team completed a website redesign that included easy navigation, product catalog, loyalty program details, and educational resources for customers.
A notable addition to the new website is offering real-time listing of inventory and online ordering with in-store pick up.
With the rebradning effort and launch of the new website, Hounds and Co. is poised to make an even bigger impact on their local community.
